“Elevator contractor” describes two different buyers

“Elevator contractor” may mean the licensed or specialist company installing, modernizing, and maintaining the equipment. It may also mean the general contractor buying and coordinating the package. Build It Track It uses role-based access because those parties touch the same job but should not see the same records.

The installing elevator contractor

This party supplies the field facts and performs the work at the elevator. Its view includes the assigned Stage 2: Field Survey information, project communications and attachments, the governing Stage 4 drawing package, and the installation requirements for that job.

A dedicated Stage 10: Installation and Field Evidence workflow and Stage 11: Closeout and Final Signoff sequence are planned capabilities, not live scheduling or signoff features today. Teams can currently attach files and discussion to the project. The dedicated installation evidence sequence remains planned.

The general contractor buying the package

This party deals with the commercial scope, signed agreement, submittal review, schedule-basis discussion, site access decision, and customer-facing communication. Stage 3 preserves the locked signed PDF. Stage 4 shows which drawing revision is current and whether it reached Final for Record.

The general contractor does not need the cab manufacturer’s rate library, material cost, labour hours, custom vendor quotes, or unrelated jobs. Those records stay with the manufacturer. The general contractor sees only the assigned project context its role requires.

Elevator-specific software shows which drawing governs

Spreadsheets can bend around a job. Generic construction systems can hold the building-wide record. Neither automatically identifies the field basis, commercial basis, current drawing, responsible party, and next controlled handoff for the cab. It also does not generate a bill of materials from options, dimensions, drawings, or CAD. A person enters every BOM line. Dedicated installation evidence and final signoff sequencing are planned.
